If #THM is not all on your feeds yet, it is going to be soon. The strategy, a.k.a. that the Trim Healthy Mama Diet, has more than half a million Facebook fans who can not stop posting pics of their favourite recipes–and, naturally, their dramatic before-and-after pictures.
But what is the Trim healthful Mama Diet, just (apart from an eating strategy in severe need of a new name)? THM began as a self-published publication in 2012. The authors, Pearl Barrett and Serene Allison, are sisters that both wanted to change up their eating habits, but for many different reasons; Barrett had been seeking to shed weight, while Allison wanted to stop feeling bloated from her hardcore raw foods diet.
The two are not registered dietitians and do not have any actual training in nutrition. But they came up with a strategy that highlighted eating carbohydrate-focused meals at particular times and fat-heavy meals in others– they say it worked for them.
“When we discovered that a sane and simple strategy. . .we had to inform the world,” Allison advised Daily Burn. Both women are mothers, hence the name, and a lot of the program’s fans are women attempting to lose their extra pregnancy pounds–but Barrett and Allison say their program was not supposed to be exclusively for moms.
What Do You Eat On The Trim Healthy Mama Diet?
There aren’t any “banned” food collections in THM–veggies, veggies, carbs, protein, and healthful fats for a pass. The main principle of the diet plan is that you ought ton’t eat carbs and fats at the exact same time. Instead, the point is to separate what the diet describes as “fuel types” (i.e. fat and carbs) by switching between them — then ingesting an corresponding protein at every meal, also.

It goes against what I have seen work in my profession as an expert nutritionist.”
Gans tells her clients to balance their plates, so eating about 50% veggies, 25% protein, and 25% whole grains–with some healthy fats blended in. Fats may be used from the preparation (like when you cook with olive oil), used as a garnish (like almonds or avocado in your salad), or contained as a member of the protein (like salmon).
“Diet plans which have proven to be successful scientifically–like the Mediterranean program–have all been based on equilibrium,” Gans describes.
“It comes down to satiety,” she adds. When I tell one of my clients to have a slice of fruit, I’ll always indicate pairing it with some nuts, since I want them to have some fat with their carbs. The combo makes you feel fuller for longer, because it takes more time to digest. I don’t understand where the science is in separating your fats from the carbs.”
If you find THM’s success stories too irresistible to ignore, you can go right ahead and attempt this plan out for yourself since it’s not dangerous. “You simply may not receive the successful results you desire,” says Gans. “The diet plan could maybe work for someone who enjoys following and building rules, but I do not believe that they would have the ability to sustain any weight loss”
Worth noting: Gans says you definitely should not attempt THM in case you have a history of low blood sugar since the diet encourages so many carb-heavy meals.
“The important point to bear in mind is that regardless of what you do or the way you eat, healthful eating should not be complicated,” says Gans. If getting anal-retentive about intending carb-y foods fatty ones will be stressing you out, don’t hesitate to say “Bye, Felicia” into THM.
