“I have no difficulties with having a ketogenic diet for fat loss; it’s a viable option provided it fits your individual lifestyle. However, I do have problems individuals who continue to encourage the diet as the superior option especially when they’re making money from such claims.
Following is a slide from my demonstration on fat loss diets, showing the current meta-analysis on all controlled studies when both protein and calories are closely controlled involving keto and low-carb diets.
As shown, there’s not any metabolic benefit to keto (also in fact, a slight benefit was revealed for LF though IMO it’s of little effect). Do not get caught in by the hype.
If fat loss is your goal, make a caloric deficit, so eat higher levels of protein (~2 g/kg) and then the number of carbs vs fats should be dependent on personal taste. Adherence rules supplements.”
